Asma-ul-Husna; Allah's Beautiful Names
Since the holy month of Ramadan has started, I have decided to start a series on this blog, which will be about the 100 names of Allah. It is well known that Allah is the Arabic word for God. It is His 1st name out of the 100, and it means "Almighty Single God". It is a term usually used by Muslims, but people from any religion can use this name.
The first of the five pillars of Islam is belief in Allah. As Muslims, we believe in Allah based on His beautiful names and attributes. Asma-ul-Husna is the 99 names of Allah, and throughout these series, I will tell you about all of His names, their meanings and the benefit of reciting the name.
It is stated in Surah Al-Hashr, verse 24, in the Holy Quran;
"The most beautiful names belong to Him (Allah)."
Calling Allah through Asma ul Husna is the gateway to the embodiment of goodness. Seeking of bounties like grace, forgiveness, protection, health, honor, work, income, marriage, children, etc. can be achieved by having fundamental faith in Allah and calling Him by His most beautiful names. Allah is the greatest name of all names. The one who recites Allah at least 1000 times, will find all the suspicions vanish away. Also, if someone wants to recover from a disease, then he/she should recite the name ‘Allah’ as many times as possible. After that, pray for yourself to get rid of the disease.
In the Ayat ul-Kursi, which is the most powerful verse in the longest chapter of the Holy Quran, it is stated;
“Allah! There is no god worthy of worship except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He fully knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge—except what He wills to reveal. His Seat encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is the Most High, the Greatest.”
There are two parts of the Asma-ul-Husna: the Jamali and Jalali names of Allah.
Here’s the difference;
Jamali: The names that you would love for Allah to be like with you: Generous, Gentle, Compassionate, Loving.
Jalali: The names we believe in and respect, but pray not to have them manifest upon us: Avenger, Arrogant/Prideful, Dominating.
Hence, it is always important to know which names of Allah are Jamali and which are Jalali.
As this blog post was just a starter for everyone, I only told about Asma-ul-Husna. Stay tuned for my next post tomorrow, which will be about Allah's second name; Ar-Rahman. Share this post with whoever you wish, and let them gain some knowledge about Allah's beautiful names too! Take care of yourselves.
F, signing off.
