Al-Quddus; The Absolutely Pure

Al-Quddus, the 5th name of Allah, means the Absolutely Pure. He is clear of any imperfection, weakness, or shortcoming. He is the most pure and the most holy. He is perfect and does not suffer from any shortcomings.

The name Al-Quddus is an Arabic word meaning sanctify, purify, or to be holy. Al-Quddus is the superlative which captures His essence of perfection. He is far removed from resembling anything.

In the Holy Quran, it is mentioned;

هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِي لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡقُدُّوسُ ٱلسَّلَٰمُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُ ٱلۡمُهَيۡمِنُ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡجَبَّارُ ٱلۡمُتَكَبِّرُۚ سُبۡحَٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشۡرِكُونَ

"He is Allah, other than whom there is no deity, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Perfection, the Bestower of Faith, the Overseer, the Exalted in Might, the Compeller, the Superior. Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him."

Al-Quddus is a Jamali name, and it is believed that agitation never comes close if someone recites this name 100 times every day.

We can benefit from knowing that Allah is Holy by trying to become pure and sanctified. We have to purify ourselves where Allah looks, and that is in our hearts and actions. Freedom from desire, anger, addiction is the journey of a lifetime. Instead, seek forgiveness from Allah, for He can purify you from any error or transgression. He can guide the lost. He forgives all sin and leaves no trace of fault. Remember, Allah is Al-Quddus, the pure, and He created you. There's a purpose and wisdom for your existence.

We may not understand it or sometimes seem lost, but when we turn to Allah, we reorient ourselves and begin to feel whole.
