Al-Malik; The King and Owner of Dominion

Al-Malik is the 4th name of Allah, and it means the One with the complete Dominion. The literal meaning of Al-Malik in Arabic is 'The King'. He is the One who rules the heavens and the Earth and everything in them. Nothing is above Him, and He is alone. This name of Allah tells us He is the absolute ruler, without any doubt or partner.

Al-Malik is the King whose limits are not limited to borders, He is eternal in time and space. He will never quit His throne and will not need the support of anyone. What we think of a king is that he leads the people, but a normal king needs the support of his people. Without their support, he has no power and no right to govern a kingdom. He does not need any existing thing since He is independent. If all people were wretched in their hearts and they did not believe in Allah, He would still be the king. His dominion will never vanish.

The name 'Al-Malik' is a Jamali name. One who recites this name after the Fajr prayer will become rich.

Shayk Tosun Bayrak wrote in his book, The Name & the Named;

"He does not need His kingdom, His kingdom needs Him. He rules by Himself; He does not need any help to rule. He has created the universe as a workplace for His creation, and He has created the day of judgment as a great court of justice."

The name 'Al-Malik' is a Jamali name. One who recites this name after the Fajr prayer will become rich.

Our belief and understanding that Allah is Al-Malik (The King) help us to realize that everything we seek belongs to Him. We see how grand and majestic this name is. He has complete knowledge, power, and dominion over all His creations. So, if we seek refuge, we must ask Allah for help and guidance because only He can help provide relief. If we want a reward, we must ask Allah, for He is the truly limitless Provider.

This belief also frees us from our dependence on wealthy leaders. People will constantly try to use fame, money, and power to control and influence our behavior for their benefit. But for those who see Allah as Al-Malik, they can break others' hold on us. They see the illusion and don't fall for their tricks.

A person who has Allah only needs Allah; they are free from worldly desires and can find happiness within themselves. They can then focus on how to fulfill their duties and obligations as Muslims so that they may live like a King in heaven.

In the Holy Prophet (PBUH) said;

"The most awful name in Allah's sight on the Day of Resurrection, will be (that of) a man calling himself Malik Al-Amlak (the King of kings). There can be no King of kings, as Allah is the King of kings. To say otherwise would be blasphemous."

Truly, Allah is The King, and only He is the King of kings.
