Al-Khaafidh; The Reducer
In Islam, Allah has 99 names or attributes, and each name signifies a unique characteristic of Allah. One of the names of Allah is Al-Khaafidh, which means "The Abaser" or "The Humiliator".
This name is mentioned in the Quran in Surah Al-Mujadilah, verse 11:
O you who have believed, when you are told, 'Space yourselves' in assemblies, then make space; Allah will make space for you. And when you are told, 'Arise,' then arise; Allah will raise those who have believed among you and those who were given knowledge, by degrees. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
In this verse, Allah is telling the believers to be humble and to lower themselves in gatherings. By doing so, Allah promises to raise them in ranks and honor. This highlights the importance of humility in Islam and how it is a desirable characteristic in the eyes of Allah.
The name Al-Khaafidh also teaches us that Allah has the power to lower and humble those who are arrogant and proud. This serves as a reminder to us to always remain humble and not to become arrogant or proud of our achievements. Allah is the one who gives us success and it is important to recognize and acknowledge that.
Al-Khaafidh is a Jalali name, and it is believed that Allah will fulfill the need of the person who recites this name 500 times. It also acts as a guard from all enemies if a group of people sit in the gathering on the fourth day of fasting and recite this name 70 times each.
Furthermore, the name Al-Khaafidh also reminds us that Allah has the power to bring down those who oppress others. This is because those who oppress others are seen as arrogant and proud and Allah, being the ultimate judge and the most just, will bring them down.
In conclusion, the name Al-Khaafidh teaches us the importance of humility, the dangers of arrogance and pride, and the ultimate power of Allah to bring down the oppressors.
As Muslims, we should strive to embody the characteristic of humility and seek refuge in Allah from arrogance and oppression.
Take care of yourselves.
F, signing off.
