Al-Haleem; The Most Forbearing
Al-Haleem is one of the 99 names of Allah in Islam. It is an Arabic word that is derived from the root word "Hilm," which means forbearance, patience, and gentleness. Therefore, Al-Haleem means the Most Forbearing, the Most Patient, and the Most Gentle.
In the Quran, Allah is described as Al-Haleem in several verses. For instance, in Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 225, it is stated:
لَّا يُؤَاخِذُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِٱللَّغْوِ فِىٓ أَيْمَـٰنِكُمْ وَلَـٰكِن يُؤَاخِذُكُم بِمَا كَسَبَتْ قُلُوبُكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ حَلِيمٌۭ
Allah does not impose blame upon you for what is unintentional in your oaths, but He imposes blame upon you for what your hearts have earned. And Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing.
This verse illustrates that Allah is the Most Forbearing and Patient, and He forgives our unintentional mistakes and sins.
Moreover, Allah's attribute of Al-Haleem highlights His gentleness and kindness towards His creation. Allah is patient with our faults and flaws, and He gives us the opportunity to repent and seek His forgiveness. He is the One who provides us with the means to rectify our mistakes and improve ourselves.
Al-Haleem is a Jamali name, and it is believed that if one writes this name on a piece of paper, washes it with water, and then uses that water for sprinkling things, it will keep the things safe from all types of damage.
As believers, we can benefit from the attribute of Al-Haleem by cultivating forbearance and patience in our daily lives. We should be gentle and kind towards others, even when they may make mistakes or wrong us. We should also be patient in seeking Allah's guidance and forgiveness, knowing that He is the Most Forbearing and Patient.
In conclusion, Allah's attribute of Al-Haleem reminds us of His forbearance, patience, and gentleness towards His creation. As believers, we should strive to emulate these qualities in our daily lives and be mindful of our actions and attitudes toward others.
May Allah guide us all to the straight path and grant us His mercy and forgiveness.
Take care of yourselves.
