Al-Baasit; The Expander
Al-Baasit is one of the names of Allah in Islamic tradition, and it means "the Expander" or "the One who gives ample provision." This name is derived from the Arabic word "basata," which means to extend or to enlarge.
In the Quran, Allah is referred to as Al-Baasit in several verses, including Surah Al-Anaam, verse 165, which states:
It is He who has made you successors upon the earth and has raised some of you above others in degrees [of rank] that He may try you through what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is swift in penalty; but indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful.
The name Al-Baasit highlights Allah's attribute of generosity and abundance. Allah is the One who provides sustenance, blessings, and opportunities to His creation. He expands the provision and blessings for those who seek His pleasure and submit to His will.
Moreover, the name Al-Baasit also reminds believers to be generous and giving toward others. Muslims are encouraged to share their wealth and resources with those in need and to be open-handed toward others.
Al-Baasit is a Jalali name, and by repeating this name 10 times after Chasht prayer and rubbing your face with your hands, one will no longer be dependent upon others.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
"The upper hand is better than the lower hand (i.e., the giver is better than the receiver)."
In summary, the name Al-Baasit represents Allah's attribute of generosity and abundance. It reminds believers of the importance of being generous and giving toward others and seeking Allah's pleasure by sharing their blessings and resources with those in need.
Take care of yourselves.
