Al-'Azeem; The Magnificent
Al-'Azeem is one of the 99 names of Allah in Islam. It is an Arabic word that is derived from the root word "Azm," which means greatness, strength, and power. Therefore, Al-'Azeem means the Most Great, the Most Mighty, and the Most Powerful.
In the Quran, Allah is described as Al-'Azeem in several verses. For instance, in Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 255, it is stated:
Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.
This verse illustrates that Allah is the Greatest and the Most Powerful, and His knowledge and authority are limitless.
Moreover, Allah's attribute of Al-'Azeem highlights His supreme power and control over the universe. Allah is the Creator of everything, and He has the power to sustain and maintain the universe. He is the One who controls the natural forces and phenomena, and He is the source of all blessings and bounties.
