Al-'Adl; The Utterly Just
Al-'Adl is one of the 99 names of Allah in Islam, which means "The Just" or "The Equitable". This name of Allah emphasizes His attribute of being the ultimate source of justice and fairness.
The name Al-'Adl appears several times in the Quran, such as in Surah An-Nisa, where Allah says:
إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَظْلِمُ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍۢ ۖ وَإِن تَكُ حَسَنَةًۭ يُضَـٰعِفْهَا وَيُؤْتِ مِن لَّدُنْهُ أَجْرًا عَظِيمًۭا
Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom's weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward. (4:40)
The name Al-'Adl teaches us that Allah is the ultimate source of justice, and all His judgments are based on fairness and equality. It also reminds us that we should strive for justice and fairness in all our dealings with others, whether in personal or social matters.
Al-'Adl is a Jamali name, and it is believed that people will obey you if you will write this name on a piece of bread on Friday.
Furthermore, the name Al-'Adl teaches us to be fair and just even when dealing with our enemies or those who have wronged us. We should always seek justice without any biases or personal interests, knowing that Allah is watching over us.
In conclusion, the name Al-'Adl is a powerful reminder of Allah's attribute of justice and fairness. It inspires us to strive for justice and fairness in all our dealings with others, to seek guidance from the Quran, and to trust Allah's ultimate judgment. May Allah help us to embody the qualities of Al-'Adl in our daily lives.
