Ramadan Is Here!
Ramadan Mubarak everyone! Yes, I know I'm late, but I've just been really busy recently. My school reopened after my 1-week-long spring break, and now I have to fast and go to school at the same time!
It's hard in the beginning, but I'm starting to get the hang of it. I fasted during school last year in Ramadan too, and I remember enjoying it that time. Now, I'm always feeling hungry AND thirsty at school. But this is what Ramadan is for. The whole fun is of fasting and avoiding food.
That reminds me of my first fast. I don't remember how old I was, but I was pretty young. When there was about an hour left until we would break our fast, I got so hungry and thirsty that I started crying! So what my brother did was that he showed me videos on YouTube of a guy who did magic. I got so indulged in that video that I totally forgot about my thirst and hunger. So that's a pro tip for ya'll; distract yourself whenever you feel way too hungry or thirsty.
The good thing is that our classrooms are air-conditioned, so we don't have to deal with the hot weather here. Ramadan started off all of a sudden. The moon was sighted at the last moment, and many people had to prepare for suhoor in a rush.
I was quite excited about Ramadan, but I'm more excited about Eid! Eid is my favorite Islamic holiday, and the best part is that right after Eid, it's my cousin's wedding! I've already decided my henna designs for Eid and the wedding. Along with that, I can't wait to collect all the Eidi! For those of you who don't know, Eidi is money that all the elders give to the children. We always go to an Eid dinner at one of my relative's houses, and since there are so many people in my dad's family, I always get to collect A LOT of money. It's the best part of Eid!
Since I'm the youngest among my siblings, I make sure to take Eidi from them too, and from all my family members living in our house.
Let's not get too excited for Eid, we gotta go through Ramadan first!
I always help my mom in getting the food ready for us to break our fast. This year, I've been baking a lot of stuff for iftar. I baked some buns and sausage rolls, along with a long bread roll with chicken filling. I also tried out another recipe for the first time; a gooey chocolate pudding. I'll make sure to write a blog about that too. You guys HAVE to try it!
Anyways, tell me how you're Ramadan is going. Make sure to comment and tell me about your experience this year!
Take care of yourselves.
F, signing off.
